Biography
Helder Moutinho
The continued livelyhood of a song, that represents like few others the way of feeling, acting and being deeply and profoundly Portuguese, motivated Helder Moutinho, songwriter and Fado interpreter, to create a show that represents simultaneously his immense tradition and the way it is recreated by does that are reached by him.
Above all, it is about creating a journey through sound, taking Fado as a musical basis, but designing it with new forms, wih the baldness of bringing new sounds to its sound and its way of being.
Helder Moutinho voice, already known by its solo acts, demonstrates an inquestionable versatility when living side by side so well with the careful musical production and work of Manuel D’Olieira, guitar player from Fado’s distant universes, yet so many times called upon to contribute to this cause.
In “Maldito Fado’s” line-up one will travel through Fado’s historic classics, joined by original songs written intentionally for this show, with all themes centered in Fado’s language. The typical and “castiços” “bairros de Lisbos”, the “amores e desamores” that tell their stories, the emotion of “saudade” and sadness, the difficult “fadista” livelihood, are all recreated as they were and as they will be, in accordance to changing times that not even Fado’s emotion can ignore.
Conducted by it’s native interpreters - voice, guitar and portuguese guitar - hosts of a gathering of outher instruments such as the acordeon, bass or percussion, “Maldito Fado” results (…) in a show where Fado is at the same time main character and climax of everything that is a part of it, reinforcing and contaminated by all the influences that surround it.
