Biography
The universal language of music
Stockholm Lisboa Project: musicians from Portugal and Sweden joined to communicate their music traditions. Distant in space, under the universal language of music they found new textures and bridges between North and South, one tradition and the other.
The repertoire is about Portuguese and Scandinavian folk music, from Fado songs to polska dances, brought to the ears by the sound colours of violin, mandolin, Nordic mandola, harmonica and voice.
In 2000 two musicians from this project met in France. Both of them were invited to represent their countries in a European Folk Music Meeting. The scenario was Brittany in France and they were asked to arrange songs of their repertoire with musicians from other countries. The result was an experimental CD, some concerts in France and an open door for contacts and creativity.
Living in different countries, Simon Stålspets and Sérgio Crisóstomo kept in contact, exchanging music in order to prepare a project for a new duo. Later in 2006 they invited Liana in 2006. The band reached the actual line-up in 2008 with Filip Jers, a Swedish musician awarded from the World Harmonica Championship.
Simon Stålspets, Sérgio Crisóstomo, Liana and Filip Jers are the faces of this project which brings to stage traditions from their roots.
