"Like Corpo Iluminado, my new album Sensus
was inspired by a poem written by the Portuguese poet David Mourão
Ferreira. Some will find the erotic themes of this album daring. To actually
sing about physical love in this way is, indeed, quite out of the ordinary.
And yet, this album embodies more than a daring thematic approach. Sensus
offers the listener a true summary of viewpoints on sexuality and love,
from the eighteenth century to the present day.
In working and reflecting on this theme and in searching for poems suited
to our sound, we discovered that all the sonnets of William Shakespeare
had been translated into Portuguese and published in 2002. The moment I
had experienced these amazing translations, I made a selection from them
that lent itself perfectly to my purposes.
I hope that Sensus will appeal to everyone who is seeking the authenticity
of physical thinking, stripped of societal standards that have so often
been restrictive for human beings."
